The Land Use Board functions under the authority of the Municipal Land Use Law of New Jersey. The Board charts the future of the Township by examining existing and potential development in the community in accordance with state and local regulations. The Board is authorized to:

  • Create and Adopt a Master Plan, which is subject to re-examination every six years.
  • Review all major and minor Subdivision and Site Plan applications
  • Review Conditional use applications
  • Recommend amendments to land use ordinances for submission to Township Council
  • Review Capital Improvement projects
  • Review requests for variances under certain circumstances in connection with site plan and subdivision applications

The Land Use Board consists of nine members as follows:

  • The Mayor
  • A Township Council member, appointed by the Township Council
  • A Township Official, appointed by the Mayor
  • Six other citizens of the Township, appointed by the Mayor
  • No more than two (2) Alternate members as deemed necessary, and appointed by the Mayor

The Land Use Board holds monthly meetings, on the fourth Thursday of the month, at 7:30 PM, in the Council Chamber of the Township Hall. Notice of all meetings is given to the public in accordance with the requirements of the "Open Public Meetings Act" (Sunshine Law) and the Municipal Land Use Law. All meetings are open to the general public in accordance with the requirements of the "Open Public Meetings Act". Meeting Agendas are posted in the Township Hall and on the website approximately one week prior to the meeting.

Copies of the Allamuchy Township Land Development Ordinance and zoning maps are available for review and/or purchase through the Township Clerk. Land Use Board applications and related public documents can be reviewed by prior arrangement with the Land Use Board Secretary.
